StreetShield Community Guidelines
Last updated: 2026-04-26
StreetShield is built for calm, factual local awareness. Reports should help nearby people understand what is happening without exposing private people, escalating risk, or encouraging confrontation. Call 000 in emergencies. StreetShield is not an emergency service.
What to Post
- Factual, short, behaviour-focused reports.
- Details based on what you personally observed or can describe safely.
- Approximate location, direction, and time.
- Privacy-safe details that help nearby awareness without identifying private people.
- Calm corrections, resolutions, and follow-up context when a situation changes.
Examples
- Loud disturbance near the park entrance around 8:30pm. No direct threat observed.
- Car alarm sounding near the shopping strip. Approx. 10 minutes ago.
- Emergency service activity visible near the main road. Avoid the area if safe to do so.
What Is Not Allowed
- Do not post names, phone numbers, social handles, exact private addresses, or doxxing.
- Faces, licence plates, or identifying details unless a future privacy-safe moderated flow allows it.
- Suspect identification, accusations, or facial-recognition claims.
- Racial, ethnic, appearance-based, disability-based, gender-based, age-based, religious, or other profiling.
- Content involving minors.
- Rumours presented as facts.
- Harassment, threats, humiliation, revenge, or targeted abuse.
- Requests for people to confront, pursue, patrol, retaliate, gather, or take vigilante action.
- Emergency requests that should go to 000.
Safety Language
Use: Reported activity nearby. Approximate location. Call 000 in emergencies. Avoid the area if safe to do so. No direct threat observed.
Avoid: This person is the offender. Go find them. Everyone patrol the street. Crime will happen here. Profiling based on appearance, race, ethnicity, clothing, disability, gender, religion, age, or other personal traits.
Moderation
StreetShield may redact identifying details, remove unsafe content, merge duplicate reports, lower trust/confidence signals, rate-limit, mute, suspend, or ban accounts, and retain records needed for safety, moderation, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Use Report inappropriate if a post breaks these guidelines.
